  • The Scindapsus pictus ‘Exotica’ (Scindapsus pictus ‘Exotica’) is a striking tropical aroid vine, prized for its large, heart-shaped, velvety leaves splashed with shimmering silver variegation that contrasts beautifully against deep green foliage. This ‘Exotica’ cultivar features broader silver marbling than the classic form.

Native to the tropical rainforests of South-East Asia—including Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Sumatra—it climbs in its natural habitat but indoors is often grown trailing from hanging baskets or trained to cascade or climb. It thrives in bright, indirect light, evenly moist yet well-draining soil, and humidity of 40–60%, though it will tolerate average indoor conditions.

A moderate grower, it can reach up to 90 cm indoors with long, trailing vines and propagates easily from stem cuttings. While generally low-maintenance, yellowing leaves or reduced variegation may indicate insufficient light. Like other Scindapsus, it is toxic to pets if ingested, so should be kept out of their reach.
