The 4 O’Clock Moth (Dysphania numana) is a common sight around the Cairns region. Aptly named for its tendency to emerge in the late afternoon and early evening, it can often be seen resting on window ledges, around garden beds, or throughout the rainforest.
These endemic moths are captivating, with blue and black banded wings contrasted by bright yellow sections. Often mistaken for a butterfly, the 4 O’Clock Moth is diurnal, preferring to shelter from direct sunlight beneath the rainforest canopy.
The caterpillar of the 4 O’Clock Moth is a vivid yellow and can often be found resting on the undersides of leaves high off the ground, in deep shade.

- Clean the surface before applying to ensure good adhesion.
- Apply to smooth, dry, and dust-free surfaces for best results.
- Press firmly from the centre outward to remove air bubbles.
- Hand wash items with stickers gently — avoid soaking or scrubbing – to avoid colours fading or scratches.
